fOR MY MAIP 2021 FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION I was tasked with creating an identity for my artist of choice. For this assignment I chose singer and producer, Kirby.
Kirby is an artist and singer-songwriter from Southaven, Mississippi. An alumni of Berklee College of Music, Kirby sparked a career in songwriting by writing a song a day on YouTube for 275 days. She was signed to Roc Nation on Day 302.
Kirby is the pen behind hits like, “Die With You” by Beyoncé, “Only One” by Kanye West and Paul McCartney, “FourFiveSeconds” by Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney, “Break Your Heart Right Back” by Ariana Grande, and many more to come. Kirby is a prime example that with faith, hard work, and preparation, anything is possible.

HER INSPIRATION
Kirby’s sound is groovy, and soulful. When listening to her one can feel as if they’re being taken back to Studio 54, or even the likes of Donna Summer.

LOGO EXPERIMENTATION
The logo represents everything fundamental about Kirby. Fun, magical, and longingly groovy. The font has notes of femininity and boldness, with a hint of whimsical wonder. There’s a youthful confidence in the final look and feel of the logo. Everything Kirby embodies with her music.
The stars are symbolic of star power (of course) and the spiritual power of three.
The heart is connected to the soul, one cannot exist without the other.

It's not every chance I get to do branding for a musical artists I love. Through Kirby's personality I got to experiment with type, color, aesthetic.
